How to dismantle a metal-rubber-metal bushing with a flange and install a metal-polyurethane or metal-rubber bushing with a flange (Manual #22)

The manual below shows how to replace a 3-piece bushing with one outer metal bushing flange properly, with a metal-rubber or metal-polyurethane bushing in which the anti-vibration element has one flange.

Before replacement

Removing the old bushing

A – Rotate the element
B – When pressing out, press on the upper surface of the outer sleeve
C – Press
D – Auxiliary bushing for pressing out
E – Outer sleeve
F – Inner bushing with the rubber
G – Control arm
H – Place blocks under control arm

Correctly removed element

Attention!

A – Before installation of the new bushing, precisely clean the socket

B – Control arm
C – Outer sleeve
D – Inner bushing with the rubber/polyurethane

Installation

A – Surfaces to be greased
B – Press
C – New polyurethane/rubber insert
D – Control arm

Attention!

Remember that the flange of the new insert should be on the same side as the flange of the pressed out bushing.

The indicated surfaces should be lubricated with the included grease.

A – Surfaces to be greased

C – Inner sleeve
D – New polyurethane/rubber insert

While pushing the inner bushing, the Press the new polyurethane / rubber insert to its half of its length, then press it on the metal bushing

A – Press to align

Press in the new insert so that the flange rests on the control arm
