Replacing the SAAB 9-3 engine mount insert

In the guide below, we shows how you can easily replace the rubber insert in the engine mount on a Saab 9-3 car. Replacing whe whole engine mount can be expensive, however the solution that Tedgum proposes, significantly reduces the cost of repair.

Replacement process:


Mark the element for future cuts are to be made.


Element with notches made. Incisions can be made by any technique. It is important to cut only the folded collar.


Bend the notches around the entire circumference to be able to press out the cushion rubber element freely.


The next step is to pull the rubber element out of the housing. Press on the inner metal part of the insert.


The extruded damping element that has visible signs of wear and needs to be replaced.


Set up the new element correctly, remembering to correctly position the inner insert relative to the socket.


Before pressing on the press, the element should be lubricated thoroughly to reduce friction.


Use a press to press in the new insert.

We fasten the element rigidly (e.g. in a vice) and precisely bend the collar.
